Most employers meet their surveillance duties and never measure the exposure that made them necessary. That is the wrong way round. Health surveillance is a check on your controls; hygiene monitoring is how you know what your controls are up against in the first place.
It also decides who needs surveillance at all. If you have never measured the noise on a line or the dust in a bay, your surveillance programme is built on an assumption. Measure it and the programme usually gets smaller, more targeted, and easier to defend.
We deliver hygiene monitoring alongside your surveillance, so the exposure data and the health data sit with one provider and get read together. When an audiogram comes back categorised, we can look at what the noise survey said about where that person works.

Workplace noise assessment under the Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005, identifying who is exposed above the lower and upper action values, what the personal daily exposure is, and what controls or hearing protection are required.
